8th Avenue Redux (click on images to enlarge them)

After I saw the butterfly, I began trying to see with his eyes . . .

How do they keep their wits about them?

This one is really close to the meaning of life

pretty close. Observer can't get much closer without affecting the observed.

This one reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, where the flowers have their own society. I expect this one to burst into song, maybe because I would.

How do you get such a sharp image? The angle of the shot makes the flower take on a new life, an additional layer of existence. It's like looking at something edge on and moving just a bit to discover the thing is not only three dimensional, it's chatting with a friend.

Now that you mention it, the bottom three flowers seem to be bursting out in arias that we can't hear. The sharp focus and very narrow depth of field is due to the digital macro setting, which allows one to shoot a subject as close as 2 inches from the lens at maximum wide angle setting.

The bottom image is my favorite. This delicate blue lady . . . Chatting with a friend . . . hmmmm, yes—while devouring an insect with her stamen.
